HALLMARK PLAYHOUSE
"When You Care Enough to Send the Very Best" was the slogan of the Hall Brothers greeting card company -- and it suited their radio program as well. Hallmark Playhouse featured refined, elegantly-presented dramas headed by top stars. Its anthology format emphasized adaptations of fine literature from the past and present. Each drama was presented in a manner completely free of show-business hype. Author James Hilton set the stage and interviewed the principals in a dignified, professorial style. The program enjoyed a five year run over CBS.
